Adventure Camp 2026

Where curiosity meets the coast

JIYC Adventure Camp
A Charleston Summer of Exploration

Our Adventure Camp offers a playful, nature-based summer experience for children ages 6–10 who love to explore, create, and spend time outdoors. Designed as a companion to our Junior Sailing Program, it’s perfect for younger siblings and new participants who want to enjoy the water without structured sailing instruction.

Campers spend their days immersed in Lowcountry adventures such as marsh walks, crabbing, kayaking, crafts, shark-tooth hunts, and beach days, all centered on curiosity, discovery, and safe fun. Once a week, campers can may also “try out” sailing in a relaxed, confidence-building way.

With small groups and caring counselors, Adventure Camp provides a warm, supportive environment where every child can explore, grow, and enjoy Charleston’s waterfront.

Highlights Include

• Exploring the outdoors through fun, hands-on Lowcountry activities
• Encouraging curiosity, creativity, and confidence
• Enjoying time on the water with kayaking, crabbing, and beach days
• Providing a safe, welcoming environment for every child
• Offering optional, interest-based opportunities to explore sailing

Adventure Camp Vs. Sailing Program:
Adventure camp is built around outdoor exploration nature based activities, so sailing isn't always part of the daily plan. Depending on camper interest, coach availability, and the weather, groups may enjoy a brief introduction to sailing during the week. If your child is looking for consistent time on the water and hands-on sailing instruction, we recommend visiting our Summer Sailing Program page.

Families are welcome to enroll in both Adventure Camp and Sailing Program, but each program has its own goals, structure, and experiences. If you have any questions about which option is the best fit, please reach out to the Sailing Director.
